The Story behind Key Command Media

Hi, I'm Craig Curry, the founder of Key Command Media LLC. We're a new company formed in 2021. 

By training, I'm a professional musician—a pianist, and a widely-published composer of choral music and piano arrangements used by churches.

So what am I doing starting a new company?

It's a question I ask myself a lot! 2019 was a rough year for me personally and professionally. My mother died, my university teaching contract wasn't renewed, and my efforts to secure another faculty position fell short as did my proposal for a commissioned opera. 

I decided to make 2020 my "Year of Self-Care" since I had the time. My first goal was to get back in shape. I was at a record high weight and was tired of what I saw in the mirror. I was making good progress before the lockdowns, then a used elliptical and workouts with my college student daughter (sent home after spring break) helped me keep my momentum until I had reached my goal weight and lost 50 pounds within 6 months. I learned a lot about habits and goal-setting during that time. 

My goal for the second half of 2020 was to work on my jazz piano skills. I invested in an iPad Pro to replace a couple shelves worth of music books. Still, I found it difficult to keep track of everything I wanted to practice: tunes, scales, patterns, transcriptions and there weren't many digital practice journals out there. 

So I decided to create my own.

As I learned about design and design software, I enjoyed it so much I decided at the end of 2020 to create my own digital planner. As I considered my own spiritual practices and routines I kept adding more content and the project kept growing until it became the 2022 Key Command Christian Focus Planner. 

Friends told me they thought this planner could help a lot of people so I decided publish it. I also know many people are rethinking their lives right now—and as someone who's done that and made some changes—I started Key Command Media to help Christians live more faithful and fruitful lives. The Christian Focus Planner is hopefully only the beginning. 

So here we are. I'm looking forward to seeing where God leads all of this, and how He will use Key Command Media to help Christ-followers lead productive and meaningful lives for His glory and others' good.
