2 Corinthians 1:6

A man in a black shirt and black ball cap wipes away a tear with a heavily tattooed arm as another man has a hand on his shoulder in support with 2 Corinthians 1:6, "If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which accomplishes in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we experience."

(from Streams in the Desert, December 10) “Suffering is rough and hard to bear; but it hides beneath it discipline, education, possibilities, which not only leave us nobler, but perfect us to help others. Do not fret, or set your teeth, or wait doggedly for the suffering to pass; but get out of it all you can, both for yourself and for your service to your generation, according to the will of God.”
